Sustainability In Mind
Transport
The most carbon releasing part of my business is transportation. One day, I’d like to come to you on a bike, but I haven’t figured that one out yet, so in the meantime, I am limiting my area of practice to a 10 miles radius around my home (Old Trafford), and I am applying a small fee for visits more than 4 miles away. A special discount for hosting other people’s massage is also available, so I don’t drive around so much.
Linen
Second big issue: towels. So many towels. For hygiene purposes, I wash my couch covers and towels at a high temperature so you can feel safe on it. Towels are then air dried, and I only use a tumble drier for a very few minutes to finish drying them and give them that lovely fluffy feel we all love to lie on. But, if you want to help me achieve my eco-friendly goals, and are happy to use towels of your own, there’s also a discount available for that.
Other sustainable practices
There are a few other ways in which I manage my impact on the environment as a masseuse:
All my equipment and massage mediums are sourced as locally as possible and with sustainability and fair trading in mind;
I disinfect my massage table after every treatment using a lavender infused anti-bacterial cleaner of natural origin (from Miniml). I bulk buy this product in 5L bottles which are picked up and reused by the company to reduce waste;
When acquiring towels and linen, I prioritise sustainable fibres. The price is justified if it means they will last longer.
